Following a good tradition, this Sunday the new round for the DUV 6-hours Cup competition starts with the “fastest 6h course of the world” in Stein, Netherlands (30 km west of Aachen). Also, the awards ceremony for last year’s Cup competition will take place there, as done in recent years.

The winners of last year’s Cup, Gino Casier and Conny Braekmann (both from Belgium) will be among the starters. Because of their victory in 2009 they are now members of the “DUV-Fördergruppe” (athletes supported by DUV), and will meet their team members Stefan Hinze, Rene Strosny, and Ulrike Steeger. Further, DUV vice president Dagmar Liszewitz will circle on the course in Stein.

Last year’s winners Julia Alter and Aleksei Belosludtsev have not registered, Julia will run the Trans Gran Canaria this weekend instead.

Janos Bogar from Hungary, 2008 in 2nd place with 83.661 km, is among the participants this year again. Lucien Taelman from Belgium can be expected to go beyond 80 km as well as Stefan Hinze, Rene Strosny, or Gert Mertens (Belgium).

Based on previous performances, the women’s race will be battled out between Conny Braekmann and Ulrike Steeger.

But 6 hours are already quite a bit of time and may offer some surprises. Let’s check out how the athletes made it through this long winter...

We wish all participants much fun and success and a great race!
