In the women’s race, Conny Braekman set out from the beginning to demonstrate that the winner would have to beat her and ran a really impressive race. With a start/finish victory she finished with 73.500 kms. Second place went undisputedly to Ulrike Steeger from Troisdorf, who started a little too fast initially, but then was reminded a little bit of her “schedule” by coach and spouse Udo and reduced her speed accordingly. Her 2nd place was never challenged. Dora Vandewaetere from Belgium finished in third place with 64.666 kms, starting very fast but having to pay her dues in the last two hours with occasional walking episodes.

Best runner from Germany was Rene Strosny (Bautzener LV) finishing in 8th place with 77.895 kms. For the member of the DUV Fördergruppe, Gino Casier, Conny Braekmann, Ulrike Steeger, and René Strosny, this was an excellent kick-off in their preparations for competing in the 100km race of Copenhagen on April 24, 2010.
The DUV Executives were represented by Vice President Dagmar Liszewitz actively on the course, who concluded her preparations for the 7-day race in Athens with a last long run by taking advantage of the 6 hours in Stein.
After this again very well-organized event the awards ceremony for the DUV 6 hours Cup took place. For last year, Conny Braekman and Gino Casier (both from Belgium) were the winners, thereby securing their ticket to be in the DUV Fördergruppe for elite performances.

Congratulations to all participants for their performances. All in all a very good start of the first 6 hours event of this year’s DUV 6 hours Cup. Already next weekend, the next race will be on at Nuremberg.
